<description> Seventy years ago, almost 13,000 people of Japanese-ancestry, many of whom were American citizens, were removed from their homes and sent to a desolate “incarceration camp" near Twin Falls, Idaho.

This summer, the 10th pilgrimage will take place with former internees, their families, and friends - from Seattle, Portland and across the nation - to the former Minidoka Camp in Idaho.

But I’m willing to bet you that all of them are wishing, right now, that the US had not decided back in 2001 to begin a campaign of torture and murder against the Taliban fighters that it was capturing in Afghanistan, and against others that it has rounded up in the so-called War on Terror.

<description> Oregon State troopers say a Clatskanie-area woman died Friday evening when her car crashed into a sport utility vehicle on Highway 52 west of Rainier.

Sergeant Larry Lucas with Oregon State Police, says it was approximately 6:00 PM when a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire two-door driven by 27-year old Anna Urban of Clatskanie, was westbound on Highway 30 near milepost 52. For an unknown reason, it crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a 1990 Mitsubishi Montero sport utility vehicle, Lucas said.

"The Mitsubishi came to a stop off the highway overturned onto its side. The Pontiac came to a stop on the highway."

<title> Group Sues to Protect Idaho's Minidoka Japanese Interment Camp</title>
<description> The National Trust for Historic Preservation today joined a broad coalition of Idahoans and state and national organizations as a co-plaintiff in a lawsuit appealing a decision by the Jerome County Board of Commissioners on September 23, 2008 to approve an application for a confined animal feeding operation, or 'CAFO' permit near the Minidoka National Historic Site in Idaho.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation joined with Japanese American Citizens League, Friends of Minidoka, Preservation Idaho, Idaho Concerned Area Residents for the Environment (ICARE), the Idaho Rural Council, and local farming families and landowners, the Dimonds and Slones, in filing the Petition for Judicial Review. These groups are deeply concerned about the consequences that this CAFO will have on adjacent property and Minidoka.

The petition challenges the Board’s approval based on its inadequate consideration of the impacts to Minidoka and private property, and exclusion of the opportunity for the coalition members to participate in the process in violation of their due process rights.
