Employers Face Workplace Posting Requirement

U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson, in a March 2 ruling, rejected the argument and upheld the rule’s Subpart A posting requirement for employers.

(WASHINGTON LID) - Employers Face Workplace Posting Requirement Most U.S. private-sector employers, beginning April 30, will be required by federal regulation to prominently display posters informing workers of their rights to form a union and engage in collective bargaining.

The controversial NLRB rule calls for “conspicuous” placement of an 11-by-17-inch notice explaining worker protections afforded in the (NLRA, the principle body of law governing collective bargaining.

Attorney General Kamala D. Harris Files Brief in Support of Constitutionality of Health Care Reform

(SACRAMENTO) - Medical symbol Attorney General Kamala D. Harris has filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit strongly asserting the legality of federal health care reform and urging the court to uphold the law.

"The law strikes an appropriate - and constitutional - balance between national requirements that will expand access to affordable healthcare while providing States with flexibility to design programs that achieve that goal for their citizens," the amicus brief states.

Slavery and Argentina

Official figures indicate that half of the Argentina's 165,000 textile workers labor in conditions of "slavery."

(BUENOS AIRES) - Argentine textile factory Police in Argentina have arrested 14 illegal Bolivian and Peruvian workers, after storming eight unregistered factories in Buenos Aires Province.

The police clashed with a group of stone-throwing Bolivian and Peruvian workers on Thursday after they raided the factories in Buenos Aires.
