Linn Detectives Serve Search Warrant for Explosives

Police say explosives in a dumpster led to a residence where materials that may have been used in making an explosive device were discovered.
(SWEETR HOME, Ore.) -
Several suspicious items, believed to be explosives, were located by employees from Sweet Home Sanitation September 30th, according to Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller.
"These devices were discovered in a dumpster and did not appear to have been placed with the intent of damaging any specific property or person, but were located in trash that Sweet Home Sanitation had received," Mueller said.

Bomb Techs Render Suspicious Object Safe at State Fairgrounds

The suspicious device was a two and a half foot long cylindrical object.

Oregon State Police bomb technicians determined a suspicious object reported Tuesday morning in the north parking lot of the Oregon State Fairgrounds near Silverton Road in Salem was not an explosive device.
The police and bomb technician response closed a short section of Silverton Road for approximately 90 minutes, according to Oregon State Police Spokesman, Lt. Gregg Hastings.

(SALEM, Ore.) -
Oregon State Police bomb technicians determined a suspicious object reported Tuesday morning near the front entrance of the Department of Motor Vehicles building on Lana Avenue in Salem was not an explosive device.
Around 8:00 a.m. OSP troopers and bomb technicians along with Salem police responded to the report of a suspicious object outside of the DMV office located at 1905 Lana Avenue NE.

The Salem Police Department Hazardous Device Team or 'Bomb Squad' was called out Wednesday after an explosion severely injured a Salem man.
Salem Police and Fire were called to 1095 Norway St NE just before 7:00 p.m. last night after 42-year old Patrick Hibler, apparently attempting to manufacture some type of explosive material in the residence, caused a detonation which seriously injured him in several parts of his body.

Police Make Arrest in Middle School Bomb Scare

The student was placed in the custody of the Washington County Juvenile Department, who later released him to his parents.

Police say an arrest was made Friday afternoon in the February 6th bomb threat at Banks Junior High School. The suspect is a 13-year old student at the school.
Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff's Office says that around 3:00 p.m. Friday, the 13-year old male juvenile was arrested at his home in Banks regarding the February 6th bomb threat that caused the evacuation of Banks Junior High School.

Officials Find IED at Oregon School

The Metro Explosive Disposal Unit responded to the school, took control of the device, and transported it to a location for disposal.
(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) -
Police say that around 8:45 a.m. today, a La Salle Catholic College Preparatory employee found what appeared to be an unexploded device near the landscape shed on the school campus.
Detective Jeffrey Green with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded and identified the device as an improvised explosive device or "IED" which is what soldiers and Marines are often killed with in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a bomb threat Monday in Jefferson.
Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says the incident took place at the Sterling Bank on Main Street in Jefferson.
The call regarding a bomb threat came in just after 5:00 PM. After the December loss of two police officers in Oregon over a bomb in a bank have placed law enforcement officers on high alert.

An Oregon State Police Bomb Technician and Woodburn Police Officer were killed, and the Woodburn Chief of Police was critically injured Friday afternoon when an explosive device detonated at a Woodburn area bank.
On December 12, 2008 at approximately 10:32 AM a Woodburn-area Wells Fargo Bank received a threatening phone call from an unknown person. Bank personnel notified Woodburn Police Department and the bank was evacuated.
With the assistance of the FBI and Senior Trooper Hakim, officers located a suspicious object that was determined to not be dangerous.

Salem Police Bomb Squad Investigating Fake Explosive Device

The hoax led to the evacuation of three apartment buildings and several other nearby buildings, with 60-100 people temporarily displaced.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
Salem's Police Bomb Squad was activated today over a report of a large explosive device that was found near a South Salem apartment complex. What appeared to be an explosive device, as it turns out, was a fake bomb created to look like convincingly real, according to Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada.
The call came through at 9:00 AM from the apartment complex on Liberty Road S, where the suspicious device was observed on a garbage can. Okada says the device, "was comprised of several tubes that resembled sticks of dynamite with an electronic detonator placed among the sticks and a timing device on top".
He says the initial responding officers immediately secured the area and contacted the Bomb Squad.
