Eddy tried claiming medical and religious protections but the arguments were not allowed in Federal Court.
(PISMO BEACH, Calif.) -
Today Eddy Lepp called me at about 10:30 a.m. and said they were getting ready to pass through Pismo Beach. I hopped into my car and caught up with them on the freeway and followed them to Lompoc.
There was a traffic jam on the way down and I figured that in Eddy's mind there was probably no big rush as he was on his way to serve a 10 year mandatory sentence in Federal Prison for growing Marijuana.

The song written to spotlight the plight of an Oregon woman serving a life sentence in a Turkish prison remained at number one in 1974 for nine weeks in the NW, and was number 16 on Billboard's national charts.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
During the summer of '74, one song took over the airwaves. It was the haunting tale by a local band, in rememberance of a girl from Oregon who was being held in a Turkish prison.

(PORT ORCHARD, Wash.) -
The majority of Washingtonians voted together in 1998 for the health and safety of its ill residents. Supporting the medical use of marijuana was not a hard choice for most, and the state has adjusted very well overall to bringing these sick patients into the fold.
Contrary to these ideals seems to be one particular man: Kitsap County Prosecutor Russ Hauge (pronounced howgy). His opinion of the thousands of legal medicinal use patients seems to be nothing less than disapproval.

US Drug Czar Mis-Used Marijuana Statistics as Scare Tactics While Arrests Soar, Reports Reveal
Bonnie King Salem-News.com
The US House of Representatives celebrates the end of alcohol prohibition, while marijuana users are still considered criminals.
(WASHINGTON D.C.) -
The major U.S. government study of drug use shows that the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy has badly failed to meet its own goals for reducing use of marijuana and other illegal drugs, according to a pair of new reports by George Mason University senior fellow Jon Gettman, Ph.D.
In addition, ONDCP and its chief, "Drug Czar" John Walters, have misused treatment statistics to suggest that marijuana is dangerously addictive when the government's own data suggest that arrest-driven treatment admissions have wasted tax dollars by treating thousands who were not truly drug-dependent. All while the FBI's new tally is the highest marijuana arrest total ever-reported in law enforcement history.
