Letter to Editor Decries Ohio Mandate for Another Nuclear Operation

Why didn't they go door to door and ask the community what kind of jobs they want for the area?

(PORTSMOUTH, Ohio) - Salem-News.com How can our representatives, Strickland, Voinovich and Schmidt just, out of the blue, mandate another nuclear operation for our area when previous nuclear endeavors here have been so devastating?

How? When these representatives know good and well that area residents and workers from prior nuclear operations here are deathly ill from toxic chemical and radiation exposures! The Feds have designated Scioto County as having one of the highest cancer rates in the nation, and they even have a categorized list of illnesses caused from THE FORMER PORTSMOUTH GASEOUS DIFFUSION PLANT !

Veterans Increasingly Becoming Victims of Violent Crime in the U.S.

The people who lay their lives on the line for their country are encountering violent crime for a variety of reasons.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Criminal, violent acts against American combat veterans are on the rise in the streets of this nation. It may not be anything new, but there does appear to be an increase in the number of crimes taking place against people who once served in uniform. Some of it relates to chance, but several of the reported cases apparently involved veterans specifically being targeted.

One recent story involves a 21-year old Marine Lance Corporal named Robert Crutchfield, who survived 14 months of intense fighting in Iraq, only to be gunned down by robbers at home on leave during the Christmas holiday, on January 5th. It happened at a bus stop at East 72nd Street and Superior Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio; in America's heartland.

Airman Missing Since 1942 is Identified (VIDEO)

Ernest Munn was one of four men aboard a routine navigation training flight that departed Mather Field, California, on November 18th 1942.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Ernest Munn The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office announced today that the remains of a U.S. Army Air Forces airman, missing since 1942, have been identified and will soon be returned to his family for burial.

He is Aviation Cadet Ernest G. Munn, U.S. Army Air Forces, of St. Clairsville, Ohio. He will be buried in May in Colerain, Ohio.

NBC Ordered by Judge to Allow Kucinich in Presidential Debate

Senior Clark County District Court Judge Charles Thompson vowed to issue an injunction halting the nationally televised debate if MSNBC failed to comply with his order.

(CLEVELAND, Ohio) - Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich Ohio Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich will meet with reporters here Tuesday morning to make his first public statements following a Nevada court ruling tonight ordering that he be included in tomorrow’s nationally televised NBC/MSNBC debate - or, the court said, the debate would be halted.

The judge ruled it was a matter of fairness and Nevada voters would benefit from hearing from more than just Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and Barack Obama. An official order from the court is expected this morning.
