Sought After Pakistani Taliban Leader Mehsud May Be Dead

The death is unconfirmed, but militants say the Taliban is already holding a "shura" council to select Mehsud's replacement.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Military officials in Pakistan believe Pakistani Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud may have been killed during a CIA missile strike.

Pakistani security officials report that Mehsud, his wife and bodyguards were killed on August 5th 2009 when an American drone aircraft attacked their location in the Zangar area in South Waziristan.

The presidents of Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan on Sunday signed a joint statement dubbed the "Tehran Statement", at the end of their trilateral summit on regional developments.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com After all of the political bashing and essentially unfounded accusations of nuclear weapon development, it probably seems unlikely to many Americans that Iran would be the country to bring stability to the Middle east.

A historic meeting between Ahmadinejad, President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan and Hamid Karzaithe of Afghanistan, held Sunday, saw discussion of collective trilateral efforts to fight extremism, Islamism and terrorism in the region.

U.S. Drone Reportedly Kills Thirty People In Pakistan

Sources said there was a camp of Afghan Commander Bahram Khan Kochi in Sarpal area. US drones continued patrolling in the area after the attack.

(PARACHINAR, Pakistan) - Map showing Kurram, Pakistan At least 30 persons were killed and three were wounded in US drone attack in Surkh Pull area in Kurram tribal Agency, a foreign news agency reported.

According to reports, four US drones fired four missiles at suspected hideouts of militants in Sarpal area of tehsil Sadda of lower Kurram. Intially, 15 people were killed in the attack.

Pakistan`s Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto Assassinated

A ray of hope for the future of Pakistan was killed by a terrorist.

(RAWALPINDI, Pakistan) - Pakistan's Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto As she was leaving a public campaign rally in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was killed by a suicide bomber today in a crowded park. More than 15 people were killed and several were injured.

Eyewitnesses told reporters that Ms. Bhutto was just leaving the rally when an unidentified gunman shot her in the neck and in hte chest before detonating a bomb in the crowd. Ms. Bhutto was was officially pronounced dead at a hospital she was transported to.
