Palestine and Optimism

We remain optimistic because our children and grandchildren are optimistic and we should not try to dissuade them from optimism or from acting to improve their lives. As we free our minds of dark thoughts, we can see the light.

(BETHLEHEM) - Palestine Overall life is good and people are good. Some people do foolish things once in a while: oppress, kill, steal land, destroy trees etc.

But life continues and people survive, adapt, and struggle to get to a better place. Here in Palestine, the apricots are in season and they are as sweet as can be.

Human Rights Groups Call for Immediate Transfer of Hunger Strikers to Civilian Hospitals

Call is for immediate intervention to provide all hunger strikers with unrestricted access to independent doctors.

(FREIDBURG, Germany) - Israel is holding Palestinian men, women and children in prison under `administrative administration` which requires no evidence, no charges... and indefinite detainment.  Two organisations dedicated to the promotion and protection of human rights are calling for Israel to transfer hunger striking prisoners to civilian hospitals.

The 'Palestinian Council of Human Rights Organizations' and 'Physicians for Human Rights-Israel' are gravely concerned for the lives of three Palestinian prisoners who remain on hunger strike in Israeli prison.

(PORTLAND, OR) - Salmon trapped in gillnet Two nonprofit groups today announced their support for a proposed ballot measure to stop commercial gillnet fishing on the lower Columbia.

The Humane Society of the United States and Oregon Wild endorsed the measure sponsored by the Stop Gillnetting Now coalition, which is headed for the November ballot.
