Chainsaws Aren`t Only Dangerous in Horror Movies

Approximately 36,000 people are injured by chainsaws annually.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - chain saw It’s the stuff of horror movies—the villain chasing teenagers through the dark woods, brandishing a chainsaw.

But nothing is scarier than the statistics on chainsaw use. While chainsaws can be a useful tool to trim, prune, or remove trees, 36,000 people are injured by them in the U.S. every year, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Portland-Based Timeshare Scam Exposed by BBB

Victims of this scam are from across the U.S. and Canada.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - scam artist Better Business Bureau Northwest + Pacific is alerting consumers to a Portland, OR-based timeshare scam operating under the name M&T Property Management. Consumers have so far lost nearly $37,000 to this company.

BBB’s investigations team found that M&T is pretending to be a timeshare resale company and has gone through great lengths to make the company and associated website seem real.

Michael Wolfe Arrested in Disappearances

Oregon man is in custody and charged with aggravated murder after disappearance of his 3-year-old son and the boy's mother.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Karissa and William Fretwell Friday, 52-year old Michael John Wolfe was taken into custody by investigators from the Salem Police Department in connection with the disappearance of 25-year old Karissa Fretwell and the 3-year old son, William Fretwell, she shares with Wolfe.

He was booked into the Yamhill County Jail on two counts of Aggravated Murder and two counts of Kidnapping in the First Degree. He is being held without bail.

Oregon National Guard in Memorial Day Events Around the State

Our Nation’s Vietnam veterans and veterans from all eras were honored.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Authorized by Congress, established under the Secretary of Defense, and launched by President Obama on May 25, 2012, the Vietnam War Commemoration recognizes all men and women who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces from Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975.

Nine million Americans, approximately 6.4 million living today, served during that period, and the commemoration makes no distinction between veterans who served in-county, in-theater, or were stationed elsewhere during those 20 years. All answered the call of duty.

State Anti-Abortion Laws

The Republican war on women continues.

(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) - republican Alabama became the eleventh state to pass anti-abortion legislation. Now eleven of the 22 states with both a Republican governor and legislature have passed an anti-abortion law. I expect it to be eventually 22 of 22.

The Republicans know or should know that these laws are unconstitutional under the Supreme Court’s earlier decision in Roe v. Wade.

Mazda Toyota Breaks Ground with $1.6 Billion Construction Project

Alabama receives a huge boon to their auto industry

The company erected its first steel column in Alabama Limestone County, signaling the start of its major auto assembly construction plant, which will make 300,000 vehicles annually upon completion in 2021.

Salem Police Officer Survives Shooting at Traffic Stop

38-year old Jaime Jimenez was booked into the Marion County Correctional Facility on multiple charges

(SALEM, Ore.) - shooting According to officials, the officer, whose name has yet to be released, stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Highland AV NE, and during the stop a male suspect shot at the officer. The suspect then fled in his vehicle.

The injured officer was transported to Salem Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
