Foreclosure Legislation Approved by Senate

Two bills will help Oregonians struggling to keep their homes.

(SALEM) - Foreclosure With the foreclosure crisis continuing to hit Oregon’s middle class families hard, the Senate took action this morning on two priority bills that will help homeowners who are facing foreclosure.

The bills, Senate Bills SB 1552 and SB 1564, received bipartisan support and now head to the House for consideration.

Pilgrims Ready to Set Sail for Shrine on Lankan Isle, Navy Steps Up Security

Security will be stepped up along the maritime boundary in view of the festival and fishing will be banned for two days.

(CHENNAI) - Tamil pilgrims Nearly 10,000 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu will set sail to the Katchatheevu island on a two-day pilgrimage for the St Antony's Church festival for the third consecutive year on March 3 and 4.

India had given the island to Sri Lanka in 1974, but the pilgrimage was stopped between 1983 and 2010 because of the Sri Lankan wars.

A terrible crash in Palestine claims the lives of nine kids, and Khader Adnan crosses day 60 in his Hunger Strike.

(BETHLEHEM) - Salem-News.com We had a really bad day today. Nine Palestinian very young children were killed and 40 other kindergarden children injured (some severely) in one horrific fiery traffic accident today and another child was killed in a separate traffic accident.

The day started with me breaking a glass and then having to talk to a lawyer about a notice I just received to go to military court on 1 April .

BLM Sells Timber in Yamhill and Clackamas Counties

There were no bidders on the 1,052 MBF Cruiser Fly Timber Sale in Tillamook County and on the 279 MBF Rockhouse Timber Sale in Polk County.

(SALEM) - Oregon logging Approximately 7,623 thousand board feet (MBF) of timber was offered for sale at oral auction by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Salem District on Wednesday, February 15. Two of the four timber sales offered were sold for a total of $2,006,108.

The Wilkenson Timber Sale of 3,276 MBF, located in Yamhill County, was purchased by Banks Timber-LLC for $1,031,940.

Vermont Voters Support Decriminalizing Marijuana

Majority Wants Legislators to Remove Criminal Penalties for Possession of Small Amounts of Marijuana.

(MONTPELIER, Vt.) - Medical marijuana According to a Public Policy Polling survey released today, a majority of Vermont voters are in favor of removing criminal penalties for possession of small amounts of marijuana.

Under current Vermont law, the penalty for possession of marijuana is up to six months in jail and up to a $500 fine.
