Abolish the Death Penalty, Replace With Life Without Parole

Imposing the death penalty is much more expensive than imposing a sentence of life without parole, because the Constitution requires a long and complex judicial process for death penalty cases.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Historical poster by Peg Averill. The death penalty should be abolished in the United States because life without parole is more humane, less discriminatory, and a less costly alternative – and it avoids the risk of executing an innocent person.

Thirty-four states impose the death penalty, including California, Oregon, and Washington, and there are 41 Federal capital crimes for which the death penalty can be applied.

West Bank: Palestinian shot in the face with tear gas canister

”A Palestinian from the village of Nabi Saleh remains in critical condition after he was hit in the face with a direct shot from a tear gas canister.”

(ALEXANDRIA, Egypt) - Nabi Saleh Mustafa Tamimi after being shot in the face with a high velocity tear gas canister Mustafa Tamimi, 27, was critically injured on Friday in the village of Nabi Saleh when an Israeli soldier fired a tear gas canister directly at his head from a short distance.

Witnesses say the soldier was less than ten meters away when he fired, causing severe damage to the orbital region of Tamimi’s face.

(LONDON Colombo Telegraph) - Colombo Telegraph Pahalagama Somaratana Thero, chief incumbent of Thames Buddhist Vihara, Croydon, has been charged with another eight counts of sexual abuse on Friday, 11 November, the London Metropolitan police told Colombo Telegraph.

According to the metropolitan police these eight indecent assaults on a female under 14 took place between 01 January 1985 and 31 December 1986 at an address in Croydon.

Hamas mourn losses of several civilians killed by Israel in recent days.

(GAZA STRIP) - Israeli attacks on Gaza Al-Qassam Brigades, military wing of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas, mourned the loss of 21-year old Subhi Alaa Al-Batish, a resident of At-Tuffah neighborhood in the middle Gaza Strip Tuesday morning.

The Brigades said in the statement that the mujahed was martyred after the Zionist drones shelled his car near Abu Khadra building in the middle of Gaza city after many years of hard work and sacrifice in defending his home from the Zionist occupation.
