(LOS ANGELES) - A protester is arrested by Los Angeles Police Department officers after he attempted to join a group of Occupy LA demonstrators. My name is Patrick Meighan, and I’m a husband, a father, a writer on the Fox animated sitcom “Family Guy”, and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Santa Monica.

I was arrested at about 1 a.m. Wednesday morning with 291 other people at Occupy LA. I was sitting in City Hall Park with a pillow, a blanket, and a copy of Thich Nhat Hanh’s “Being Peace” when 1,400 heavily-armed LAPD officers in paramilitary SWAT gear streamed in.

POSCO... a can of rotting bankster-worms [Part 1]

POSCO is a test case in that it is controlled by the same banksters who are grabbing resources worldwide paid for in toilet paper dollars.

(NEW DELHI, India) - POSCO activists The Korean firm known as POSCO, is now the Trojan-horse of the western banking and financial cartel and the police- are directly overseeing that the company forcibly acquires people’s lands, and water and forest resources in blatant violation of Constitutional safeguards.

Recently the Constitution took a severe beating in Congress as part of the `war on terror`

I can’t imagine John Chafee or Lincoln Chafee casting votes like these. Sadly, in 2006 Rhode Islanders replaced Senator Lincoln Chafee with Sheldon Whitehouse.

(RICHMOND, R.I.) - Constitution The Senate approved the indefinite military incarceration of suspected American citizens. No evidence, charges, trial or other aspects of due process would be required.

You might be suspected of being an “insurgent” depending on your ancestry or your physical appearance. (Recall the shameful incarceration of Japanese Americans in World War II.)

Academic Freedom: The Fall of the Last Bastion of Democracy

"The whole idea of equal justice under law means that you've got to play by the rules. It has nothing to do with the underlying subject matter. You just tell the truth." --Kenneth Starr

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Baylor University In our nation freedom of speech much like freedom of the press is defined, implemented, and censored by those in power in direct contradiction to the words and spirit of our First Amendment.

Such is the current outrageous, dishonorable, and unconstitutional actions taken by Judge Starr against one of the country's leading and most distinguished scholars on Jewish Studies, tenured Professor Marc Ellis...

Writers' deliriums about circumcision (Derrida, Lacan, Mandelbaum and Roth) against filmmakers' common sense (Allen, Burman)

(PARIS, France) - Livia Manera Sambuy Livia Manera Sambuy, is a journalist at the Corriere della sera and the director of the film "Phillip Roth sans complexes" (Cintévé et Arte) affirms that Roth hates Woody Allen.

And with good reason; when the hero of "Deconstructing Harry" – played by Woody Allen himself – addresses his son whom he did not have mutilated, he tells him: "You won't look like dad." At the contrary, Zuckerman, Phillip Roth's hero and alter ego, holds his wife the abject, delirious discourse of the sect, so that in this opportunity, Roth should really rise up against Zuckerman if he wishes to get the literature Nobel Prize...

How the Bureau investigated Bell Pottinger

The Bureau felt it was in the public interest to know exactly what a PR firm representing such clients does to improve their image.

(LONDON) - Uzbekistan’s cotton is the subject of an international boycott over alleged child labour. Britain is gaining a name as the place despotic regimes go for reputation management. A lack of regulation and no requirements for transparency mean PR companies can represent the most repressive governments under the cloak of secrecy.

In the US there is a measure of statutory transparency: lobbyists working for foreign governments have to publicly disclose their client contracts and state when and why they’ve been in contact with politicians and the media. In the UK, there’s no such obligation.
