Marion County Deputy Receives Recycling Awards

(Salem, Oregon) - On Wednesday, the Marion County Board of Commissioners presented Deputy Bob Ferris with the 2011 Association of Oregon Recyclers Recycler of the Year Award in the government category. A two decade veteran of the Marion County Jail, Deputy Ferris, who is also a Master Recycler, has worked for many years to improve recycling and waste reduction efforts at the county jail. As a result of Deputy Ferris' efforts, the county jail is now realizing savings of over $20,000 per year by decreasing the size and frequency of garbage collection.

Key Bank Robbed in Corvallis

(Corvallis, Oregon) - On Thursday at approximately 2:09 p.m. employees of Key Bank, located at 1817 NW 9th St, called to report and unknown male had just robbed their business. The suspect entered the front doors of the bank wearing a motorcycle helmet. He implied he had a weapon and demanded money. Bank employees complied with his demands and the suspect left the business with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was last seen leaving the bank on foot, running toward Hwy 99W.
