Prosperity, Dreams and Human Costs

Prosperity, Dreams and Ideals.

(NEW DELHI) - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton The word prosperity most frequently refers to increase in material wealth. Not so often, it refers in a wider sense to all round development of individuals and society, with justice and social equity being the corner stone.

The Toxic Chinese Drywall Controversy

It is estimated that between 60,000 and 100,000 homes and commercial properties across the United States were made from this material.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Cartoon by Douglas MacGregor, The News-Press I first became aware of the problem of toxic drywall manufactured in China during my 2010 visit to New Orleans. Many homeowners rebuilt their homes after Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, and Hurricane Rita in September 2005 using Chinese drywall.

This drywall made occupants sick, corroded metal fixtures, and rendered homes unfit to live in. Homeowners had to tear out the drywall, corroded wiring, fixtures, etc.

After five years of an illegal and brutal blockade of Gaza, a plan is finally announced to replace aid with trade.

(LONDON) - Salem-News.com`s Ken O`Keefe at the press conference in London Many Salem-News.com readers are already familiar with the efforts to aid the Samouni family of Gaza; one that was heavily targeted during Israel's 'Cast Lead' attack over the winter of 2008 and 2009.

The Samouni clan is the focus but they are only one family in Gaza where 1-7 million human beings live in an open air prison surrounded by walls and fences and an Israeli patrolled sea.

Palestine, Israel and America: the Strategic Void

"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, le"
-- Sun Tzu (The Art of War, Special Edition)

(JACKSON, Miss.) - Salem-News.com Let us admit it to ourselves, once and for all. The battle of Palestine for the Palestinians has been lost. The odds against them and their scattered network of supporters have been great.

The last possible chance to at least stave off defeat was stillborn last year, when the Goldstone Report on Gaza was endorsed by the UN Human Rights Commission and the UN General Assembly, and then -- simply stopped.

What`s the Real Scoop on `Antisemitism`? Is it Hatred or Self-Flattery?

Are humanitarian writers simply hiding a hatred of people over their religion?

(SALEM, Ore.) - Perceptions of antisemitism It occurs to me that the endless false accusations of 'antisemitism' that Zionists lob on news agencies like ours with the guts to speak openly about Israel's terrible abuse of non-Jews in Palestine, is really in many ways a form of self-flattery.

It takes a lot of gall to suggest that an objection to war crimes, is actually a hidden 'hatred of Jews' but this is the endless accusation.

Military Women: Third Class Citizens?

“Le droit du seigneur” seems to be right at home in the U.S. Military.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Female Air Force woman in Iraq during a sand storm that covered Balad for days in 2008. Salem-News.com photo by Tim King This article is a direct response to an article in the New York Times June 3, 2011 titled WHEN STATES PUNISH WOMEN which was about the Congressional block of appropriation of money for PLANNED PARENTHOOD. I nearly threw up when I read this.

It is supposed to be because Planned Parenthood pays a very small amount for legal medical abortion information and does provide some abortions.
