Cargo Vessel Strikes Pier, Two Barges in Clatskanie

No pollution or injuries were reported, but one of the barges was pushed to shore by tugboat after papermill staff determined it might sink.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - Damage at Papermill in Clatskanie A cargo vessel carrying lumber struck a pier and two barges damaging a building at the Wauna Georgia Pacific papermill in Clatskanie, Ore., Friday.

The motor vessel Susaki Wing out of Panama struck the pier at approximately 5:53 p.m. after losing propulsion. Coast Guard Sector Columbia River in Astoria dispatched an HH-60 helicopter crew and a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew to the scene.

Red Cross Volunteers Help 3-Adults Affected by a House Fire

(Salem, Oregon) - Red Cross Flag Volunteers with the American Red Cross responded to a single family house fire Saturday morning, April 23rd, in the 1800 block of 31st avenue NE, in Salem. The house sustained fire and smoke damage and no injuries were reported. A pet cat perished in the fire.

The Red Cross assisted the three adults with lodging, food, clothing and emotional support.

At the same time, two "researchers" from the University of Wisc. School of Medicine and Public Health went public and warned against increasing pain med regulation.

Because of the fear and desperation put forth by this, about 1.1 Million Tamils have fled the country.

The numbers are horrible, and include over 600,000 Tamil internal refugees.
