Corban Students and Staff Band Together to Help Terminally Ill Student Graduate

A few credits short, Corban’s Academic Council voted to award Sara Swenson her the Bachelor of Communication degree.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Sara Swenson At the Corban University Homecoming celebration in October, Corban senior Sara Swenson gave a personal testimony about her battle with cancer that gave glory to God and moved many to tears.

Swenson was diagnosed with various forms of cancer in June 2009 following her junior year at Corban.

Could Oregon be First to End Cannabis Prohibition? `OCTA 2012` is Approved for Signatures

The petition drive could lead to ending the failed prohibition law.

(SALEM, Ore.) - OCTA 2012 If passed, the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act of 2012 will regulate the legal sale of marijuana to adults through state-licensed stores, allow adults to grow their own, license Oregon farmers to grow marijuana for state-licensed stores and allow unlicensed Oregon farmers to grow cannabis hemp for fuel, fiber and food.

OCTA 2012 organizers need to gather 90,000 registered voters' signatures.

Joya is an outspoken critic of the Hamid Karzai administration and its western supporters.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Malalai Joya Afghan feminist and war critic Malalai Joya, will visit Willamette University to speak about the U.S. Afghanistan occupation and its continuing impact.

A former member of the Afghan Parliament, Joya, was named by Time Magazine as One of the Top 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Nuclear Activists Receive Prison Sentence, Cheers, Prayers

(TACOMA) - Bill “Bix” Bichsel, S.J., of Tacoma, Washington; Susan Crane,  of Baltimore MD;  Lynne Greenwald,  of Bremerton Washington;  Steve Kelly, S.J.,  of Oakland , CA.; Anne Montgomery RSCJ,  of New York, New York,  were arrested on Naval Base Kitsap- Bango The Disarm Now Plowshares activists who entered U.S. Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor to symbolically disarm the nuclear weapons stored there were sentenced today at the Tacoma Federal Courthouse, receiving sentences of 6 months to 15 months confinement, plus one year supervised release.

About two hundred fifty people gathered at the courthouse to support the Plowshares activists with their presence, song, and prayer.

It was announced Friday in Portland that the Oregon province of the Society of Jesus has agreed to pay $166.1 million to hundreds of people abused as children by Jesuit priests at schools throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.

Two days ago, the Israeli army attacked a populated area in the Al-Shejaija neighborhood, east of Gaza City. Four days after the murder of two children in Johr Al-Dik, the Israeli army once again killed civilians, amongst them two more children.

The latest victims of Israel’s war crimes are Yasser A’ahid Al-Helo (15), Mohamed Jalal Al-Helo (10), Mohammed Shaber Harara (18) and Yasser Hamid Al-Helo (55).
