Oregon and 10 States Ban Former Owners of Missouri Company that Illegally Sold Extended Service Contracts for Automobiles

The settlement with the former owners of U.S. Fidelis, also known as National Auto Warranty Services and Dealer Services, requires the owners to turn over 90 percent of their assets, including a mansion, a 50-foot yacht and more.

(SALEM, Oregon) - Seal of the State of Oregon Oregon Attorney General John Kroger today announced a multi-state settlement that ensures the former owners of U.S. Fidelis will never again sell auto service contracts or telemarket in 11 states.

“This company’s business plan was based on ripping off consumers,” said Attorney General Kroger.

Recreational White Sturgeon Fishery Closes on Willamette River

(SALEM, Oregon) - White Sturgeon photo: Laura Tesler ODFW Oregon fishery managers announced today the closure of recreational sturgeon fishing on the Willamette River downstream from the Willamette Falls, including Multnomah Channel and the Gilbert River.

According to fishery managers, the closure is needed to remain near the guideline of 3,600 fish set earlier this year.

“For 2010, white sturgeon harvest guidelines were reduced 40 percent because of declining trends in numbers of fish,” said John North, fisheries manager for ODFW’s Ocean Salmon and Columbia River Program.

Salem Police Seek Witnesses of Salem Market Robbery

(SALEM, Oregon) - car driven by witnesses to Salem Market Robbery In early October, the Salem Market located at 3390 Center St NE, was robbed by a lone gunman. The robber fired several shots at the clerk before fleeing the store.

Salem Police released a photo of a car parked in front of the store which was occupied by two females at the time of the robbery.

Discount Cigarettes Store in Albany Robbed - Suspect Sought

(ALBANY, Oregon) - Albany Robbery Suspect On Saturday at about 7:00 p.m., the Albany Police Department responded to the Discount Cigarettes store located at 2850 SE Santiam Highway on the report of an armed robbery. The lone store employee told police the store had been robbed.

The employee reported that a male suspect entered the store and pulled a stocking cap down over his face. The employee reported that the suspect displayed what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from her. The employee gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash after which time the suspect left the store and ran east through the parking lot.

Yacht Reportedly Captured Near Somalia

The yacht SY Choizil went missing off Bajuni Island of Koyaama at the Southern coast of Somalia.

(NAIROBI, Kenya) - Bajuni Island of Koyaama As of today, at least 28 foreign vessels plus one barge are kept in Somali hands against the will of their owners, while at least 508 hostages or captives - including an elderly British yachting couple and the 5 new hostages from Somaliland.

Now information released by Ecoterra Intl. indicates that a report of a captured yacht, has been confirmed; though it leaves a number of questions.
