(WASHINGTON D.C.) - All That Glitters is not Gold For the poor of Central America, perks of residing in the backyard of northern neighbors have over the past century included eligibility to serve as collateral damage in U.S. wars on drugs and communism and as guinea pigs in syphilis experiments.

Steven Schnoor’s documentary “All That Glitters Isn’t Gold: A Story of Exploitation and Resistance”, addresses other perks, such as cyanide leach mining projects and corresponding arsenic contamination and agricultural destruction.

Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley urged Oregonians to submit their stories and opinions relating to the sale, distribution, and use of tobacco candy to the FDA.

“Tobacco candy poses two significant threats to our children,” Merkley said.
