Japanese Cargo Vessel Seized In Somali Waters

(NAIROBI, Kenya) - MV Izume While a spokesman for the Japanese transport ministry said Monday that the Japanese multi-purpose ship MV Izume is being surrounded by pirates in waters off Kenya, EU Navfor confirmed finally today that it was sea-jacked already yesterday, allegedly 80nm off the Kenyan coast.

"We received a report today at about 05:00 pm (0800 GMT)," the Japanese spokesman told AFP.

Alert Homeowner and Sheriff`s Canine Join Forces to Capture Suspect

(SALEM, Oregon) - Daniel L. Garcia, 21 of Salem Oregon A 21-year old Salem man was arrested after he was caught stealing a car in northeast Salem early this morning. Salem Police Officers and Marion County Sheriff's Deputies responded to area of Gill Street NE & Settlers Drive when an alert homeowner spotted what appeared to be an auto theft in progress.

The 911 call was received around 1:30am, Monday morning, when the caller saw a dark colored SUV drive into the area and park, and then a subject leaving the car and walking to a neighbor's driveway. The SUV parked with the engine running and the lights off. After several minutes, the homeowner saw the neighbor's red Honda Civic start up and leave the driveway. The SUV followed the vehicle from the area.

Oregon`s State Forest Stewardship Coordinating Committee to Meet in Salem

(SALEM, Oregon) - Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife Oregon's State Forest Stewardship Coordinating Committee will meet on Thursday October 14, 2010 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) headquarters in Salem, 2600 State Street (Operations Building D - Santiam meeting room).

The proposed agenda for the meeting includes review and evaluation of five conservation projects submitted to ODF for potential funding by the Federal Fiscal Year 2012 Forest Legacy Program. Projects will be prioritized using National Forest Legacy Program scoring guidelines.
