`Red Alert! Red Alert!`

Words our children should never hear over a loudspeaker while in the safety of their school.

(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) - Red alert This past Tuesday at approximately 2:30 pm, I received a telephone call from my 15 year old grandson, Brian. "Nonie are you watching the news?"

"No Brian - should I be?" Very calmly and with such maturity, he replied "There has been a shooting at our school -- don't worry we are all fine and in the bleachers in the football field."

Obama Speaks at the UN... Goodbye to Peace

Perhaps most depressing of all was Obama’s statement about the need for an independent Palestinian state. It is required, he said, to provide Israel with “true security”.

(LONDON) - President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel in the Oval Offic On marks out of ten for his speech to the UN on the subject of ending the conflict in and over Palestine that became Israel, I’d give President Obama minus five.

Earlier this month (on 4 September) I wrote a piece with the headline Obama has signalled his coming complete surrender to Zionism and its lobby. That surrender, it seems to me, is now effectively a fait accompli.

Israeli Action Against Gaza Flotilla `Unlawful` -UN Human Rights Council Panel

“It betrayed an unacceptable level of brutality. Such conduct cannot be justified or condoned on security or any other grounds. It constituted grave violations of human rights law and international humanitarian law.”

(GENEVA) - Mavi Marmara Israeli forces violated human rights and international humanitarian law during the 31 May incident involving a convoy of aid ships bound for Gaza, the United Nations Human Rights Council’s international, independent fact-finding mission has concluded.

In a 56-page report, the fact-finding mission, which is separate from Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s four-member panel of inquiry into the same incident, found that the action of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in intercepting one of the ships, the Mavi Marmara, on the high sea was “clearly unlawful.”

The Nature Conservancy Pledges $20 Million to Expand Water Funds

President and CEO Mark Tercek: “By protecting these water resources today, local communities are ensuring there will be clean drinking water and healthy natural systems for future generations”

(New York, NY ) - The Nature Conservancy Today at the Clinton Global Initiative, Mark Tercek, The Nature Conservancy’s President and CEO, announced a $20 million pledge to help protect drinking water for 12 million people in Latin America and more than 80 thousand hectares of natural areas. Five million of the amount has been awarded to the Conservancy by the Global Environment Facility’s Earth Fund through the Inter-American Development Bank. The Conservancy will raise the remaining $15 million primarily from local investors, including municipalities, water utilities and corporations.

Global warming, deforestation, pollution and other environmental pressures are shrinking the planet’s clean water supply. The Nature Conservancy is working hard to find innovative solutions, such as launching water funds across Latin America that pay to protect the parks, trees and grass surrounding key waterways — thereby helping to provide fresh water today and into the future.

Irvine Great Park Inherits Contaminants Part II

Irvine City Council Great Park Update: Questions Outnumber Answers
“Nature, red in tooth and claw…Dragons of the prime that tare each other in their slime.” - Lord Tennyson

(IRVINE, Calif.) - Salem-News.com Well folks, there was tooth, fang and claw aplenty at the September 14, 2010 Irvine City Council meeting, a hearing that more closely resembled the jostling of a mud-infused mosh pit than civil discourse.

All I got out of it was that the rehab continues to reflect guesses about the volumes, persistence and vague timelines and strategies of contaminant remediation.
