Hikers in Iran

Three devoted peace activists are still being held by Iran after being kidnapped a year ago.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Hikers in Iran It has now been more than a year since Iranian authorities seized three Americans — Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd, and Josh Fattal — in the mountains of Iraqi Kurdistan and falsely accused them of espionage on behalf of the U.S. government.

No formal charges have been filed, and they have been denied their right to see an attorney. All three have suffered from maltreatment, and Sarah is experiencing severe health problems.

Police Fire on Mine Protesters

At least four Tibetans may have been killed in a standoff with police over a planned mine expansion.

(HONG KONG RFA) - Map of Chinese miner protest Police in China’s southwestern Sichuan province have responded with lethal force to a group of Tibetans protesting the expansion of a gold mining operation they say is harming the environment, according to Tibetan sources.

At least four people were killed when police officers opened fire on a crowd outside the Palyul (in Chinese, Baiyu) county government offices in Sichuan’s Kardze (in Chinese, Ganzi) Tibetan Autonomous prefecture, sources said.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Medical marijuana is becoming more integrated with society every day. As a physician/pharmacologist I retain a great interest in what is going on in the pharmaceutical industry. I search the Internet to see what drugs are used the most. The listings are quite variable depending on who does them. It is often surprising to see the differences.

One list of 50 shows four for pain with, Hydrocodone being number one, and 10 for anxiety/depression, with Alprozolam being number one. The rest are mostly for cholesterol and hypertension.
