Group Calls Obama Administration Forest Report an Insult to Oregon

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon forest Thursday, the Obama Administration released the findings of the Western Oregon Task Force. The Task Force, a special interdisciplinary team, was announced by Interior Secretary Salazar on October 14, 2009 following the Administration’s decision to scrap the Western Oregon Plan Revisions (WOPR).

Unfortunately, instead of offering a plan for moving forward in the absence of the WOPR, the report largely focuses on more bureaucracy and is a tacit endorsement of do-nothing forestry at its worst.

MAPLIGHT.org examines votes and money on Unemployment Benefits Bill for each member of the House.

(BERKELEY, Calif.) - Unemployment An analysis by MAPLight.org, a nonpartisan, nonprofit research organization, found that interest groups supporting HR 4213, the unemployment benefits bill, gave, on average, $42,687 to members of the House voting 'Yes' compared to $13,586 to members voting 'No,' or three times more.

Interest groups opposing the bill gave, on average, $26,239 to 'No' votes and $20,549 to 'Yes' votes.

Log Truck Driver Dies in Crash Near Vernonia

The driver's juvenile age son was extricated by rescue crews and transported by LifeFlight with serious injuries.

(VERNONIA, Ore.) - Fatal crash Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation of Thursday afternoon's log-truck involved fatal traffic crash on Highway 47 near Stoney Point Road north of Vernonia.

According to OSP Sergeant Larry Lucas, on July 22, 2010 at approximately 1:15 p.m. a loaded log truck driven by 33-year old Joshua Schultz of Vernonia, was northbound on Highway 47 near Stoney Point Road when, for an unknown reason, it traveled off the highway.
