Honduran Man Faces Sentencing for Heroin Trafficking Tied to Death of Young Oregon Resident

The suspect had entered the U.S. illegally, prior to the alleged crime.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Judge`s gavel On July 8, 2010, Antonio Cruz, an illegal alien from Honduras, is going to be sentenced for his involvement in trafficking heroin into Portland, Oregon.

Cruz has been traced back as the supplier for the black tar heroin that killed 21-year-old Kyle Whipps, a Sisters, OR resident visiting Portland for a series of concerts in September 2008.

New Initiative for Regulated Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Bound for Oregon Ballot

Sick and dying patients in Oregon may soon have an option to “growing their own”.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Medical marijuana Sponsors of a new medical marijuana initiative announced that they have collected nearly 130,000 signatures on petitions to place Initiative #28 on Oregon’s November 2010 ballot.

The new initiative would add a regulated supply system of dispensaries and producers to the current medical marijuana law, which requires patients to produce their own medicine.

(Photo: Bernard Pollack Earlier this month, we highlighted Nicholas Kristof’s op-ed in the New York Times about Gabon, a country in West-Central Africa where the rights of farmers are frequently in conflict with wildlife conservation efforts.

One young village chief and farmer, Evelyn Kinga explained that she doesn’t like elephants because they eat her cassava plants—a crop her livelihood depends on—because she doesn’t benefit from rich foreigners who come to Gabon for eco-tourism.

Amber Alert Issued in North Dakota

The suspect vehicle is a Brown 2007 four-door Ford Taurus with Saskatchewan tag number 250-FMA.

(REGINA, Saskatchewan) - 4-year old Samantha Martyn is the victim, the suspect is Christopher Martyn. The State of North Dakota issued an Amber Alert Tuesday afternoon 6 July 2010 after the girl was reportedly abducted in Regina, Saskatchewan Canada on Monday (07-05).

The suspect is believed to be in South Dakota with the victim and the victim's mother. The girl's mother is also believed to be in danger.
