Search and Rescue on Mt. Defiance in West Hood River County

Two people are currently in an area that is at about 4200 feet, west of Mt. Defiance awaiting search and rescue personnel.

(HOOD RIVER, Ore.) - Mt. Hood The Hood River County Sheriff's Office is currently coordinating a search and rescue mission in the western portion of Hood River County. A phone call to the Hood River 911 Center around 9:30 a.m. from the lost hikers, launched the rescue team.

UPDATE: AMBER Alert canceled, child safely located in Quincy Wash. Suspect in custody.

(QUINCY, Wash.) - maroon 2006 Cadillac CTSm An Amber Alert has been issued in the state of Washington for a small boy whose father, the suspect, is operating a maroon 2006 Cadillac.

Police say he, along with three to four other Hispanic males considered to be armed and dangerous, took the child from his residence in Quincy, Washington, possibly en route Mexico.

Pentagon Changes `Don`t ask - Don`t tell` Regulations

The military services have 30 days to conform their regulations to the changes.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates announced changes to the regulation on homosexuals serving in the military that he said make the DoD’s enforcement of the so-called “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law “fairer and more appropriate.”

On Feb. 2, Gates announced he’d ordered a review to understand the implications of a possible repeal of the 17-year-old law that bans gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military.

During the reporting period, Israeli forces conducted at least 10 military incursions into Palestinian communities in the West Bank. Israeli forces abducted 19 Palestinian civilians, including 7 children and a woman.

(GAZA CITY) - Palestinian is carried into al-Aqsa Martys Hospital in Gaza wounded by Israeli troops In its Weekly Report on Israeli Human Rights Violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory for the week of 18-24 March 2010, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights found that 4 Palestinian civilians, including a child, were killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank. 22 Palestinian civilians, including 4 children and a woman, were wounded.

Also this week, Israeli forces used excessive forced against peaceful Palestinian demonstrations in the West Bank.

Gaza: Israel`s Navy Shoots and Injures Unarmed Palestinian Fisherman

Israeli Defense Force tank fire leaves another worker injured.

(GAZA STRIP) - Gaza fishing boat A Palestinian fisherman sustained wounds by Israeli naval forces Thursday near the northern Gaza Strip shoreline.

Israeli naval forces opened heavy fire at fishing boats off the northern shoreline. The attack left one man injured and damaged a number of boats, local sources reported. Medical sources said the fisherman was moved to a hospital in the nearby Beit Lahyia town after sustaining moderate wounds.

Marion County Jail Inmate Discovered Dead in Cell

Donald Wayne Friedrichs of Grand Ronde, Oregon's cause of death is unknown at this time, pending the results of an autopsy

(SALEM, Ore.) - Donald Wayne Friedrichs of Grand Ronde, Oregon Marion County Jail officials reported the death of inmate, 57-year old Donald Wayne Friedrichs of Grand Ronde, Oregon today. Mr. Friedrichs' cellmate alerted deputies at about 2:50 a.m., Thursday morning when he suspected something was wrong with Friedrichs, according to Don Thomson with the sheriff's office.

"Deputies entered his cell and found Friedrichs lying on his side in his bunk, facing the wall. He was covered with a blanket and appeared to be sleeping."
