Who is to Blame for Afghan National Police Problems?

Problems in the ANP date to the second Bush Administration, when the Iraq war was launched and the Afghan war was forgotten.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Afghan National Police officer in Kabul A news story last week blamed the Afghan National Police for not being effective after the U.S. spent more than $6 billion since 2002 in an effort to create an effective Afghan police.

My biggest problem with the story is the title; it implies that investing in Afghanistan is a risk, and that is wrong. It is our mess, if we ever want out we will have to do much more for the Afghans and less for the greedy and fat American contractors who soaked up the funds.

Over 500,000 March and Rally for Immigration Reform in Nation`s Capitol

Today, over 500,000 people converged on Washington D.C. to call on President Obama and the Congress to pass immigration reform.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Immigration rally in Washington D.C. After several interfaith services around the D.C. area, organizations and individuals gathered at the National Mall to demand immigration reform for new American families and economic justice for all American families.

Members of CAUSA, Oregon's Immigrant Rights Coalition and a contingent from Oregon met at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D.C. and helped lead a march with 20,000 Latinos from the community to the National Mall. Francisco Lopez, CAUSA's Executive Director assisted in organizing the effort.

So far, the 135+ Somalis in Kenyan detention accused of piracy, have all been captured by foreign navies patrolling the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden.
