Oregon`s Governor Advises Against Partying and Driving

Over the past 5 years during the holidays, 14 people died in crashes and half of those were alcohol-involved crashes.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Members of the Governor’s Advisory Committee on DUII are reminding motorists this holiday season about the dangers of driving under the influence, which includes alcohol and other impairing drugs, such as cannabis (marijuana).

“Impaired driving is completely preventable,” said Chuck Hayes, chair of the Governor’s Advisory Committee on DUII.

Winter Weather Message: Freezing Rain Advisory

Many roads, sidewalks and bike paths will be slick.

Periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.

Thursday Morning Fatal Crash on Hwy 99W near Adair

The crash resulted in the death of a 40-year old Corvallis woman.

(BENTON COUNTY, Ore.) - fatal crash on Highway 99W At about 8:15 a.m., on Thursday, December 8, 2016, 40-year old Laura Leong, from Corvallis, Oregon, was driving southbound on Highway 99W, south of NE Crane Lane, in a 2001 Toyota Corolla Coupe.

The highway was covered in a layer of ice. The Toyota began to fishtail in the lane, crossing the center line, and collided with a northbound 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup.

1 to 3 inches above 500 feet, with a trace to less than an inch below 500 feet is expected.

More Snow Coming to the Oregon Cascades

Carry chains as well as extra provisions should you travel through the Cascades this weekend.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - snowy road Snow amounts could reach 8 - 15 inches at higher elevations such as at Timberline ski resort and at Mount Hood meadows. Amounts at the passes through the Cascades could reach 4 - 8 inches.

The period of the heaviest snow in the south Washington Cascades will be from midnight Saturday night until noon Sunday.

Oregon Switches Gears to Revive Cannabis Industry

The OHA says the temporary rules provide relief for the industry while maintaining "public health protection".
