Minnesota Pays Heavy Price in Latest War Casualty Reports

The state has seen its worst loss since 2005.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Fourteen more U.S. servicemen have died fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. Five are from the state of Minnesota, three are from Texas, and two are from the state of Georgia. Pennsylvania, Idaho, Oklahoma and Colorado each saw the loss of one person from that state.

Another American, 23-year old Army Private first-class Bowe Bergdahl of Idaho, was captured by the Taliban while on patrol.

Man Dies From Crash that Split His Car in Half

OSP troopers investigating the crash report several driving complaints involving the Mazda were phoned into Linn County Sheriff's Office and they were attempting to find it when the crash happened.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Fatal crash near Albany, Oregon 7-24-09 Police say one person died and two other people were injured Thursday afternoon in a three vehicle collision on Highway 226 about four miles west of Scio.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Albany Area Command office are continuing the investigation into the crash in which speed and alcohol are possible contributing factors involving the victim driver.

Head-On Crash Kills Motorcycle Rider and Teen Passenger

The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team was called to the scene and is continuing to investigate.

(NORTH PLAINS, Ore.) - Fatal bike crash in North Plains, Ore. 7-23-09 Two people were killed instantly when the motorcycle they were riding collided head-on with a pick-up truck. Thursday at about 3:30 p.m. The North Plains Police Department responded to the scene.

Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, says the male driver and female passenger on the motorcycle were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on on NW West Union Road.

Bend Motorcycle Officer Hurt in Crash

The investigation is continuing.

(BEND, Ore.) - Crash investigation A Bend police motor officer was injured Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a pickup attempting to turn across congested traffic into a bank entrance in the city of Bend.

Eastbound traffic was reported as heavy as a driver attempted to turn left with a commercial truck approaching in the left eastbound lane, and struck the motorcycle in the right lane.

Suspect Arrested in 2007 Attempted Murder Case

The suspect is charged with Attempted Aggravated Murder, first-degree Assault, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 21-year-old Juanito Ray Garcia Washington County Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested a suspect in a shooting that occurred in October of 2007. Juanito Garcia was arrested in California last week on an attempted murder warrant. He is now in the Washington County Jail.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Dave Thompson, says deputies traveled to California to take custody of 21-year-old Juanito Ray Garcia who is a suspect in the shooting that occurred on October 14th 2007.

Franken, Isakson introduce Service Dogs For Veterans Act

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Senator Al Franken Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-G.A.) today (Wednesday, July 22) introduced the Service Dogs for Veterans Act, which will set up a pilot program within the Department of Veterans Affairs to pair service dogs with veterans who have physical or mental wounds, including PTSD.

This bipartisan legislation marks Sen. Franken’s first piece of legislation since taking office two weeks ago.

Keizer Youth Receives Keizer`s Top Life Saving Award (PHOTOS)

The Bob Wickman Lifesaving award is the highest honor the Keizer Fire District can bestow on a person for their efforts to save another's life.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - KFD Board President Greg Ego presesnts Wickman Award to B.J. Delagado He may only be 14-years old, but B.J. Delgado is responsible for his family being alive. B.J. was presented the Bob Wickman Lifesaving Award by the Keizer Fire District this week.

The presentation was made at the beginning of the July meeting of the Keizer Fire District Board of Directors.
