Woman Cut With Pocket Knife During Assault in Beaverton

The suspect was arrested on the charges of first-degree Assault and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He will be lodged at the Washington County Jail pending grand jury and possible additional charges.

(BEAVERTON, Ore.) - 24-year old Rodolfo Hernandez Cruz Beaverton Police were called out to a report of a man attacking a woman with a knife at 5:14 AM this morning.

Detective Pam Yazzolino says their Department received a call from residents at the Conestoga Park Apartments who said an assault was occurring with a weapon.

Yazzolino says that when police arrived, they found the victim, 28-year old Imelda Vazquez Cabello, in the driver's seat of her car bleeding from her face and neck.

Oregon Troopers Make Over 50 DUII Arrests During New Year`s Eve

An average of more than five fatalities has happened each year over this holiday period during the last ten years.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon State Police Preliminary reporting of DUII arrests by Oregon State Police shows troopers arrested 52 DUII drivers December 31st through 8:00 AM, January 1st.

Troopers reported 81 DUII arrests during last year's 78-hour official reporting period. Updated holiday-related fatal traffic crash, DUII arrests, and other enforcement related statistics over this year's 102-hour national reporting period will be provided by Monday afternoon, January 5th.

OSP, county sheriff departments, city police agencies and ODOT continue to stress to drive safely and not impaired during the extended New Year's holiday weekend running through 11:59 PM, Sunday, January 4th.

Salem Police Officer Shoots `Attacking Pit Bull`

When the suspect fled, he reportedly tried to break into an apartment in the complex, in an attempt to get away from the pursuing officer.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Attacking pit bull shot At 1:30 am, on January 1st, Salem Police officers responded to 4079 Market St, the Salem Manor Apartments, regarding a report of a man that was trying to get his two pit bull dogs to attack residents.

Two residents from the apartment, fearing for their safety had to flee from the dogs prior to police arrival.

Upon police arrival, two officers approached 21-year old Francisco Emiliano Martinez of Salem and his two pit bull dogs.

Keizer Fire Has Busiest 24 Hours in its History

Fire Chief Jeff Cowan noted that despite the heavy volume of calls, Keizer Fire District personnel and equipment were able to handle all of their calls for service with one exception, where an ambulance from Salem was needed.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Fire in Keizer, Oregon Keizer's Fire District experienced its busiest day for a 24-hour period between 7:00 AM. on December 21st and 7:00 AM on December 22nd, 2008.

The Keizer Fire District's Spokesman Jim Trett, says crews responded to a total of 37 calls for service during the period.

"The District then broke that record between December 22nd and December 23rd during the same time frame when they responded to 39 calls for service," Trett said.

Woman Reports Rape in Salem

The victim said she met the suspect at the Transit Mall and she walked with him to the location where the rape occurred.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 400 block of High Street in Salem, Oregon Police say a 23-year old transient woman reported she was raped in the 400 block of High St SE at approximately 7:00 PM near Mill Creek, on New Year's Eve.

Salem Police Lieutenant Keith A. Blair says the suspect is described as a White Male, 20-25 years of age, five-foot seven to five-foot eight-inches tall, with a skinny build and sandy blond ear length hair.

The woman said the suspect was wearing blue jeans, a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, and carrying a backpack. Blair says no weapons were observed during the incident.

Injury Accident sends Salem Woman to Hospital

The driver was transported to Salem Hospital where she is in serious, but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Crash investigation Salem Police say a woman received serious injuries this afternoon when she drove her car into the path of an oncoming Kenworth semi-truck.

Salem Police Lieutenant Keith A. Blair, says officers responded around 1:45 PM to a report of an injury accident involving a 1999 Kenworth semi-truck pulling a 48-foot trailer and a red 2002 Ford Escort 4-door on Edgewater Street NW.

He says this happened at the on-ramp to Salem-Dallas Hwy and Manor View Circle NW.
