"We face a rapidly changing energy landscape. The cost of alternative generating resources, like wind power, is rising" - Steve Wright, BPA administrator

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Windmill in Oregon from another era that still functions today; wind power is one example of things the group is looking at to improve efficiency and offset the soaring cost of traditional power. Photo by Bonnie King Salem-News.com The newly formed Northwest Energy Efficiency Taskforce held its kickoff meeting Wednesday and underscored that the Pacific Northwest can't start soon enough to add to the region's impressive energy-efficiency improvements of the last two decades.

Acquittal of Another Haditha Marine Shows Overzealous Intent of Murtha and Military Prosecutors

Is John Murtha trapped in a time warp?

(SALEM, Ore.) - Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Chessani and U.S. Congressman John Murtha; two Marines from two completely different wars. We sure have come a long way since the dark days of the Vietnam War, or have we? Many blame the current administration for what is wrong with our nation today; the crumbling economy, thousands of war dead and mounting tens of thousands of injured, and one of the biggest criticisms is that we as a nation, failed to learn the lessons gained during that bitter war in SE Asia waged from '64 to '75.

The even bigger truth, may be that while we did not learn many lessons from that war, we also have failed to recognize the vast and stark differences between the people who fought in Vietnam and today's American combat forces.

Billions-on-Billions Spent "Quietly" for Fortress-Towns.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - Iraq embassy image with blood Now we know why Presidential candidate McCain talks of "100 years in Iraq".

The U.S. has been building world-record massive military installations across Iraq --funded lushly with taxpayer money at monstrous levels, ever since early-on-- and continuing to this very day.

Whether unintentional --or in full knowledge of this ongoing effort-- McCain’s time-period, untl now simply a campaign-time "joke", becomes extremely and painfully understandable.
