STORM WATCH: Stay Off The Roads If You Can Thursday Night

In addition to all the wind, rain and flooding, the National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the Oregon Cascades for late Thursday night

(SPRINGFIELD) - Oregon Department of Transportation officials are suggesting that motorists not travel Thursday night with the incoming winter storm that is expected to produce hurricane force winds, potentially flooding rains, high surf at the coast and blizzard conditions in the mountains.

STORM WATCH: Salem Coordinates Response Teams

Personnel from Salem Fire, Police, Parks, Fleet Services met with Public Works Thursday afternoon to plan and coordinate response activities.

(SALEM) - The City of Salem is preparing for the possibilities of flooding, and high winds during the next few days.

Please report flooding to Public Works Dispatch at 503-588-6333.

Free sand and sandbags are available at the Public Works Shops complex. From Mission Street SE, go south on 22nd Street SE and follow the signs. The Willamette River is projected to crest Friday evening.

Winds gusting 55-65 mph are predicted this evening. Residents are encouraged to stay home if possible.

(SALEM) - Heavy rains and strong winds have returned to the Salem-area.

Winter Break is The Perfect Time to Get Your Child`s School Vaccinations

Last school year, 3,466 exclusion orders were issued to children with incomplete records.

(SALEM) - The upcoming winter break is a great time to get children in for their vaccinations. Lines are short and making an appointment is easy.

Waiting until exclusion orders are issued makes it difficult to get children in for vaccinations.

Children without completed immunization records will be excluded from attendance at schools and day care facilities on February 21st, 2007.

STORM WATCH: Willamette Valley Bracing For Strong Winds, Heavy Rainfall, And Flooding

A Flood Watch has been issued for rivers, creeks, and streams in Marion, Polk, Benton, and Linn counties through Friday.

(SALEM) - Weather experts are predicting that the most powerful windstorm that Oregon has seen in nearly a decade will arrive later today with winds reaching speeds of over 100 mph on the coast and 65 mph in the valley.

Winds on the coast will gust 55 to 65 mph today but the strongest winds will arrive this evening as the cold front moves across the region.

Winds will subside after midnight.

Homicide Investigation Underway at Home in Northeast Salem

Police have identified the victim as 38-year-old Michael Zeeb, of Salem.

(SALEM) - Shortly before 10:30 PM on Wednesday, Marion County Sheriff's Deputies responded to 4783 38th Ave NE in northeast Salem on a report of gunshots being fired.

When they arrived they found that one adult male had been shot in the head sheriff's spokesman Kevin Rau said.

Medics transported him to Salem Hospital where he died at about 12:15 AM this morning Rau said.

There were others at the home at the time of this incident.

These curmudgeons who can neither spell nor punctuate are only too happy to scrap a system of education which for generations has given Americans the skills to think and to make good decisions for their families and their nation. Public education is the foundation of America's middle class.

Since we have so many parallel earths at hand, let us look at a flattened world in which public education has been disbanded and replaced by a system in which lessons are served like fast food and teachers compete for test-savvy students like salesmen fighting over wealthy clients. Willamette Football Trio to Ride Coast-to-Coast in Honor of Beloved Friend

The group is also hoping to raise money and awareness for the ALS Association.

(SALEM) - Willamette University student Kalan Morinaka was a devoted scholar, the valedictorian of his high school class and on a pre-med track in college.

So when Morinaka’s friends at Willamette saw the 22-year-old go from a physically fit, active young man to someone who could barely move and talk in less than two years, it was a shock, and a heartbreak.

And when the cheerful, bright, Morinaka died Nov. 9th from the disease, his friends knew they had to honor him.
