Salem Dairy Queen`s Gain National Spotlight over Baylor QB

Well one of the seven Salem, Ore. Dairy Queen locations has heard of Bryce Perry, the one located on corner of 25th Street and Mission Street. The billboard out front reads "We are Bryce Perry Fans!"

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Dairy Queen Phones at Salem area Dairy Queen's have been ringing off the hook from media, trying to get quotes over a tweet sent out by Baylor coach Art Briles, who on Monday took issue with the fact that his quarterback, Bryce Perry, was not among those invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York City.

Briles, took to Twitter on why Petty has a better chance to win the Heisman this year: “Go to a Dairy Queen in Salem, Ore…” and they’ve heard of Petty.

Albany Apartment Fire Leaves One Person Dead

Albany Fire Department and Albany Police Department are working together investigating the cause of the fire.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - Albany Oregon Fire Wednesday at 6:41 a.m. a fire was reported from the Pacific Ave. overpass where someone saw smoke coming from an apartment complex located at 417 SE 6th Ave.

Arriving fire department personnel saw flames and smoke coming from the top story of the apartment building. There were 10 apartments, two were vacant.

Department of Transportation to Establish New Rules to Ensure Safety of Oil Rail Tankers

The proposed new regulations would extend those precautions to all trains carrying 20 or more tank carloads of either crude or ethanol.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Oil Rail Tankers After months of pressure by Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley, other legislators, and advocates around the country, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx announced Wednesday that the Department of Transportation will take steps to establish new regulations to improve the safe transportation of crude oil by rail.

Since the release of an emergency order by DOT in May setting transportation safety standards of Bakken crude by rail, Senator Merkley has called for better notification to state and local first responders of not only Bakken crude, but all flammable substances being transported by rail.

Western Oregon Autism Study Enrollment Open for Kids Ages 6-11

Families enrolled in the study receive all services for free, including training, treatment and assessments.

(MONMOUTH, Ore. ) - Autism in Oregon The Teaching Research Institute at Western Oregon University and Louisa Silva, M.D., M.P.H. are announcing a first time opportunity for parents with children between the ages of 6 and 11 with autism to enroll in a research study to receive free training and treatment.

Enrollment is open now through Sept. 5 for residents of Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington, Yamhill, Polk, Marion, Linn, Benton, Lincoln and Lane counties.

WOU’s early research with 46 children evaluating a five-month period of massage showed promising improvements in the severity of autism.

Driver Who Hit Two People on Bicycles Saturday Night Arrested

Neither victim sustained life threatening injuries.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Lisa Lynn Vesely On Saturday, at 10:51 p.m., 32-year-old Lisa Lynn Vesely was arrested by Portland Police after fleeing the scene of a crash into two people riding bicycles on Southwest Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway.

Officers learned that 30-year-old Jasmine Zamora was riding behind 25-year-old Cameron Duff, when they were struck from behind by a dark-colored car that fled the scene.

(DALLAS, Ore. ) - Randy Whittaker Dallas Oregon Funeral services have been set for a 15 year veteran of the Polk County Sheriff's Office who died following a car crash in West Salem on July 19.

48-year-old Randy W. Whittaker of Dallas, was a Sergeant with the sheriff's office, and will be laid to rest on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 320 SE Fir Villa, in Dallas, Ore.
