NILC Praises Proposed Health Equity and Access under the Law (HEAL)

(WASHINGTON DC) - Immigration rally The National Immigration Law Center applauds introduced legislation that would remove harmful and discriminatory barriers that now prohibit immigrants from participating in health care programs that their tax dollars support.

The Health Equity and Access under the Law (HEAL) for Immigrant Women and Families Act would undo poor policy that currently prevents many immigrants who are authorized to live and work in the U.S., pay taxes, and contribute to our communities from accessing affordable health coverage.

The money is to be transferred immediately, represents the tip of the iceberg.

(DAYTON, Ore.) - Pirates Den For the last 50 years, the town of Dayton, Oregon has been the home of the Pirate’s Den café. It is located directly across from the High School, and has been a part of generations of students’ best homegrown memories.

Those of us that were there in its heyday recall pinball machines, and eventually foos-ball, and a juke box that would give you three songs for a quarter. So many songs were played repeatedly, but I don't recall anyone complaining. You can never have too much Zeppelin.

Her chest heaved and her eyes closed with each raspy breath. She could no longer eat or speak, throwing up even spoonfuls of tea.

Two years ago, she would have left her upscale home — one of the nicest in the community — and gone to a hospital to get tests and medicine for her failing liver and kidneys.

(PORTLAND) - Hit and run Today, Wednesday March 12, 2014 at about 1:40 p.m., Portland Police officers responded to a call of two pedestrians struck by a vehicle. Officers arrived and discovered that the pedestrians had been hit by a vehicle which left the scene without exchanging information.

The pedestrians, a 71-year-old female and a 76-year-old female, were transported to an area hospital as a trauma injury...

Police Officer Shot in SW Portland

A firearm was recovered near the subject and the investigation is ongoing.

(PORTLAND) - Police car Earlier today we reported that officers from Central Precinct and the Youth Services Division had taken reports of a suspicious male driving a van (see the earlier flash alert)in the area of Wilson High School. In response to these reports officers were providing extra patrol in the area.

At about 4:00 p.m., an officer assigned to this detail was shot and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
