Violence Threatens to Thwart Iraqi Oil Resurgence

The clashes kick off 2014 in much the same way as 2013 ended – a return to violence in a country that had seen important security gains in recent years.

VanDeVeer was last seen wearing a red baseball cap, a black jacket, black and green pants, and white shoes. Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to telephone the Salem Police at (503)588-6123.

(SALEM OR) - Michael VanDeVeer Michael VanDeVeer, 63 years of age, left an adult foster care facility located in the 1700 block of Plateau St NE on an errand last Tuesday at about 1:00 PM and never returned.

VanDeVeer has medical issues for which he needs to take medication. He did not take any medication with him. VanDeVeer is described as a white male, 6'02" tall, 170 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.

A judge refused to reduce bail from $1 million to $50,000 per Michael Abo's attorney's request.

(MCMINNVILLE) - Michael Abo Wednesday was a tough day for the family of a small boy who authorities say, suffered weeks of severe, traumatic abuse at the hands of a reserve police officer named Michael Abo.

Abo and his lawyer appeared in court Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in McMinnville at the Yamhill County Circuit Court in front of Judge Cynthia Easterday, seeking a reduction in the one million dollar bail amount set for Abo after his arrest on a pair of Measure 11 charges.

Cambodia: Arrests and Ongoing Detention of Human Rights Defenders Messrs Vorn Pao, Theng Savoeun and Chan Putisak

Nationwide strikes demanding better wages for garment workers have been met with violence by the Cambodian security forces.

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Hun Sen On 8 January 2014 the Cambodian Center for Human Rights received confirmation that human rights defenders Messrs Vorn Pao, Theng Savoeun and Chan Putisak, as well as seven other individuals, are being detained in Correctional Centre 3 (CC3) in Kampong Cham Province.

The human rights defenders were arrested by military police along with a number of garment factory workers and five monks, while they were protesting outside the Yak Jin clothing factory on 2 January 2014. Vorn Pao is president of the Independent Democracy of Informal Economic Association (IDEA).

Afghan Taliban Denies Role In Case Of `Suicide Attack` Girl

The 10 year old girl detained by police on January 6 in the southern province of Helmand, said she refused to carry out the attack. Authorities say they are searching for her brother.

(KABUL Radio Free Europe/Radio Libert) - Afghan girl refused to be suicide bomber A Taliban spokesman has denied any involvement by the group in the case of a young girl who says her Taliban brother dressed her in an explosives-filled vest and told her to carry out a suicide attack against Afghan police.

Spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi denounced the story as "propaganda" from the Afghan government.

Take Israel to the ICC, Abbas or GET OUT of the WAY

Abbas does not speak for Palestine. He cannot sign or agree to any “agreement” for the Palestinians. If he agrees to a U.S. Framework Agreement that gives away Palestinian rights, he is a Traitor.

(WASHINGTON, DC) - It is time for Palestine to Sign the Rome Statute and take Israel to the International Criminal Court. If it is necessary to be a member state at the U.N. in order to sign the Rome Statute, the UNGA will approve that.

These bogus “Peace Talks” are only used by Israel for propaganda purposes and used to further the occupation. The people must demand that the “Peace Talks” end.

Peace Now to Israeli Government: Remove Belligerent West Bank Outpost

Peace Now’s lawyers point out that demolition orders have been issued in the past against Esh Kodesh’s illegally-built homes and other structures.

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Americans for Peace Now Israel’s Peace Now (Shalom Achshav) movement today sent a letter to the Israeli government, demanding that it enforce the law and remove Esh Kodesh, a West Bank settlement that was established in violation of Israeli law, whose residents have repeatedly attacked neighboring Palestinians.

Residents of this illegal outpost yesterday attacked Palestinians in the neighboring village of Kusra, near Nablus after Israeli law enforcement officers removed saplings that the settlers had planted in an attempt to illegally take over more land that they don’t own.
