Outrage: Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife Kills Wolf Puppies

Agency Guns Down Two 3.5 Month Old Wolf Pups from Helicopter Using Public Tax Dollars

(BAKER COUNTY, Ore.) - Oregon wolves The Oregon Wildlife Coalition, an alliance of nine wildlife conservation organizations, has learned that the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife (ODFW) needlessly slaughtered two 3 ½ month-old wolf pups from the Lookout Mountain pack by helicopter last weekend.

Killing baby wolves that are far too young to hunt is as inhumane and as it is unscientific. The Oregon Wildlife Coalition calls on ODFW to immediately cancel the kill permit for the Lookout Mountain pack.

Middle Fork Complex Update and Evacuations

LEVEL 3 (GO NOW) EVACUATION NOTICE: All homes, campgrounds and dispersed recreation along Forest Service Road 18 (Big Fall Creek Road) east of the intersection with Forest Service Road 1821, including Puma Campground and Bedrock Campground.

(LANE COUNTY, Ore.) - Steve Hawkins Twelve individual fires make up the Middle Fork Complex, with seven fires at 100% containment. The most active fire in the complex is the Gales Creek Fire at 1,822-acres with 0% containment located south of the Forest Road 18 near the 1835 road.

The 333-acre Kwis Fire is the second largest fire in the complex and is 25% contained. The Kwis Fire is the closest fire to Oakridge, located south of Forest Road 24 near Salmon Creek.

The 333-acre Kwis Fire is within the Middle Fork Complex

(WEST FIR, Ore.) - Kwis Fire Oregon Officials issued an emergency area closure for the Kwis Fire, east of Oakridge, Ore., on the Willamette National Forest. The 333-acre Kwis Fire is the closest fire to Oakridge and is located south of Forest Road 24 near Salmon Creek.

All roads, trails, developed recreation sites, dispersed camping, and entering of National Forest System lands within the closure area are prohibited for the protection of public health and safety.

The OLCC was created in 1933 in the wake of national alcohol prohibition being repealed.

The Willamette National Forest will maintain its large closure area.

(SWEET HOME, Ore.) - Bruler fire The Bruler fire has consumed 195 acres, and containment of the fire is 53%. The adjective class has been raised to “very high”.

Campfires within the Willamette National Forest will continue to be banned, including within established campground fire pits.
