IBTimes: VA Stops Releasing Data On Injured Vets As Total Reaches Grim Milestone

VA ceased to disclose this data despite President Obama’s second-term campaign pledge that his administration would be open and transparent.

(PORTLAND, OR) - US war dead As many of you know, the Pentagon reports 51,583 WIA in the two wars through Nov. 3 and 59,908 injured in non hostile causes or sick enough to be evacuated—but only through Dec 3, 2012 when it stopped reporting that category of casualties.

The reason the VA has treated a million vets, although only 111,491 were wounded or injured in theater (to Dec 3), it that most of them (about 890,000) sought treatment for their conditions after they returned home.

Driver Escapes Injuries in Serious Car Fire (PHOTOS)

A blow out caused the driver to lose control, the vehicle then went between two 6" Diameter size trees hitting both, then striking some bushes, before traveling through a small parking lot.

(TANGENT) - Mini van fire in Tangent, Oregon A car fire was reported at Hwy 99E and Old Hwy 34 in Tangent Halloween night, the call came in around 7:20 p.m. according to All Dennis Weis with the Tangent Fire Dept. Investigators say this happened as a result of a blown out front tire. The problem occurred while the driver of the white mini an was heading south on Hwy 99E.

(GIG HARBOR) - Salem-News.com On October 29, 2013, a massive swell hit Nazaré, Portugal. Big wave surfers Maya Gabiera and Carlos Burle decided to test their merit on the wave.

Maya, despite intense training and preparation, broke her ankle on the wave and, after a struggle, drowned in the turbulent waters. Her rescue partner Carlos Burle managed to get her out of the water and give her CPR on the beach. She was taken to the hospital and will live to surf another wave.

(FINLAND, Minn. ) - Organic Consumers Association The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) today called on its million-plus network to boycott Nestlé USA’s organic Gerber Baby Food and Sweat Leaf Tea.

Last year Nestlé contributed $1.5 million to help narrowly defeat Proposition 37, a California initiative to label GMOs. This year, rather than openly admit to consumers that the company is trying to hide the truth about the GMO ingredients in its products, Nestlé secretly funneled over $1 million, through the Grocery Manufacturers Association, to the campaign to defeat Washington State’s I-522 GMO labeling initiative.
