EU Takes Tougher Stance on Israeli Settlements

'Earthquake' directive will prohibit EU states from signing deals with Israel unless settlement exclusion clause is included.

(JERUSALEM) - Israeli flag Future agreements between the European Union and Israel must include the explicit exclusion of Jewish settlements in the West Bank or East Jerusalem, according to a new EU directive described by an Israeli official as an "earthquake".

The EU guidelines, adopted on 30 June, will prohibit the issuing of grants, funding, prizes or scholarships unless a settlement exclusion clause is included.

Amnesty International called on British P.M to press Thein Sein to give Rohingyas citizenship.

(PHUKET Reuters / Phuket Gazette) - NASAKA in Burma Myanmar's president has disbanded a security force accused of rights violations against Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine State in the west of the country, scene of deadly violence between Muslims and majority Buddhists in the past year.

"It is hereby announced that Border Area Immigration Control Headquarters has been abolished," President Thein Sein said in a one-line statement dated July 12 but posted on his website on July 14.

(LONDON) - IMI Haaretz reported today that there are more than 6,800 arms exporters working in Israel.

As of the end of 2012, there were “6,684 individuals dealing with security exports in 1,006 companies and 312 independent businesses. The Israeli Defence Export Controls Agency issued 1,900 marketing permits and 8,716 export permits.”
