54 More Oregonians Have Died from COVID-19

Oregon reports 1,203 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases and 54 new deaths

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - COVID-19 Oregon There are 54 new COVID-19 related deaths in Oregon, raising the state's death toll to 1,667, the Oregon Health Authority reported at 12:01 a.m. today. The high number of deaths serves as a reminder that the pandemic continues to pose a threat to our friends, neighbors, co-workers and communities.

The rising case count that surged in November and December is one factor attributed to today's record-tying high death count.

Stayton Woman Killed by Apparent Gun Shot Wound

This is an active investigation.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Stayton fatal Stayton Police responded to the 300 block of W. Water St Sunday night at about 7:33 after receiving a "suspicious circumstances" call.

When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased woman inside of the residence with an apparent gunshot wound. A man at the residence was detained by Stayton Police.

Portland Man Gets 11 Years in Prison for Child Sex Crimes

Cohron was communicating with minors online for sexually explicit purposes.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - David Arnold Cohron The court convicted Cohron of one count of attempting to use a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, one count of online sexual corruption of a child in the second degree, one count of encouraging child sexual abuse in the first degree and one count of encouraging child sexual abuse in the second degree.

Cohron had sexually explicit online communications with multiple children across seven different states.

Oregon Man Charged After Firing Gun Into Hatfield Federal Courthouse

Melby made his first appearance in federal court today

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Cody Melby According to the complaint, at approximately 7:35pm on January 8, Melby allegedly jumped over a security fence at the Hatfield Courthouse and, using a 9mm handgun, fired several rounds into the building’s exterior.

Two courthouse security officers exited the building and approached Melby after observing him on a closed-circuit security camera.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Oregon arrests On Friday, January 1, 2021, two groups with opposing ideologies scheduled protests in Salem in separate locations. The event at the Oregon State Capitol was organized by Oregon Women for Trump and was heavily attended by affiliates of the Proud Boys.

Many of the attendees at the state capitol were armed with various weapons, knives, chemical sprays, batons and firearms.
