Those of us who support human rights can't play favorites; we must extend an even hand to all people and force the violators of laws that exist to protect our most precious rights in front of the harsh light of justice.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) - Multiculturalism I heard from a news contact this week who is in shock over learning that our longtime reporter, Gordon Duff, known for his role as an activist and writer in Middle east affairs, is writing for Press TV in Tehran.

They cited that Press TV is an Iranian government media organization, and I do not disagree. However PBS and The BBC are both government news agencies, so is Voice of America and a host of other media groups that operate with ranging degrees of credibility.

Stress From Tragedy Affects Reporters, Too

Whether the public realizes it or not, journalists are often first responders to events too. We bury our emotions and do our jobs in the face of tragedy, horror and disbelief.

(AUSTIN, TX RTDNA) - Media at Newtown tragedy Last Friday, like many newsrooms across the country, Michigan Radio had the TV monitor on the wall running non-stop coverage of the school shooting events in Newton, Connecticut.

Peace is possible if justice is possible.

(LONDON) - Xmas in Gaza - Fadi F Hamada My first Christmas greeting this year came all the way from Bethlehem itself, just yards from where the Big Story is supposed to have begun 2012 years ago. These days, for me, Christmas has become a time to remember some of the extraordinary people I’ve met in the Holy Land...

The majority of migrants leave the security of their home, the love and comfort of their families, not because they want to, but because they have, they believe, no alternative.

(LONDON) - Ethiopians detained Year on year the numbers of men women and children leaving Ethiopia in search of work and freedom from repression in one of the Gulf States and beyond is increasing.

Lured by the often hollow prospect of earning enough money to support their family, United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) estimate around 85,000 men women and children, desperate and naive, have this year, no matter the severe risks, made their way to Yemen, the hub of migration out of the Horn of Africa.
