U.S. State Department Defines Settler Violence as Terrorism For First Time

(WASHINGTON DC) - A Palestinian woman reacts as Israeli settlers from the nearby Yitzhar Jewish settlement try to set ablaze her olive tree field on June 19, 2008 in the West Bank village of Burin.(AFP) A report by the U.S. State Department defines, for the first time, violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers in the West Bank as acts of terrorism.

The Country Reports on Terrorism, which under U.S. law is produced annually by the State Department and presented to the U.S. Congress, was published two weeks ago.

Firefighters Attack New Fire Starts

Multiple recreational events continue today throughout the area. All campgrounds are open, the air is good, and the water is cool.

(SALEM) - Steeple Rock Fires - A view from helicopter of the fires around Steeple Rock.  Credit: Chad Calderwood Thunderstorms on Saturday brought five new fires to the Middle Fork District. These additional fires have been added to the Buckhead Complex and are being managed by the Type 3 South Cascade Interagency Management Team.

Three of the new fires are located north of Steeple Rock, one is near the North Fork of Indian Creek, and one is near the headwaters of Packard Creek.
