Clackamas County Water Rescue Successful in the Clackamas RiverSalem-News.comThe third person has been located, alive.
(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - A drift boat was overturned in the Clackamas River this morning, with three people on board, reported at 10:15 a.m. Two of the boaters were quickly located by Marine patrol personnel and they are now safe on land. The third individual was reportedly not wearing a personal floatation device (PFD), making the risk to him much more intense, as the present water temperature of the Clackamas River is 41 degrees Fahrenheit. At 11:19 a.m. the remaining male subject that was washed out of the capsized drift boat was located safe and is currently undergoing a medical evaluation. Officials say that the man is walking, talking and functioning on his own. The rescued patient is being transported to the local Estacada Fire Station for a routine medical evaluation. This will terminate this successful river rescue, with all three capsized boaters located, safe and uninjured. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Deputies and participating members of the Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium responded to the boating mishap, in the area of McIver State Park, on the Clackamas River, in Estacada. The Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium members are: Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol, Clackamas County Fire District No. 1, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, Estacada Fire District, Sandy Fire District, Gladstone Fire Department, Lake Oswego Fire Department and Canby Fire District. Other participating agencies included Portland Fire & Rescue, Gresham Fire and Emergency Services, Hillsboro Fire Department, U.S. Coast, Newberg Fire Department, American Medical Response and the Oregon State Marine Board.
