Suspects Flee Scene of Burglary Attempt in GervaisSalem-News.comInvestigators are still sorting out exactly what happened.
(GERVAIS, Ore.) - Marion County deputies were called to the Last Chance Saloon at 12157 Portland Rd NE just before 9:30 this morning on a report of a possible burglary in progress. Sheriff's Office Spokesman Kevin Rau says that because this business is just outside the city limits of Gervais, a Gervais Officer responded while Deputies were enroute. "When the Gervais Officer approached the business he saw a car leave the parking lot. When the officer attempted to stop the car it sped away leading the officer on a short pursuit lasing only minutes." Rau says the car went into a field just north of Gervais where it became stuck in the mud. The driver and two passengers fled on foot. Two were taken into custody almost immediately by the Gervais Officer and responding deputies. Rau says a third male ran from the area toward Interstate-5. "A search for that third male was unsuccessful." The two males in custody are 25-year-old Timothy Burkoff and 23-year-old Thomas Kraskov of Molalla. Deputies are still trying to determine the identity of the third male. Investigators are still sorting out exactly what happened. More information will be released as it becomes available. Specific charges are yet to be determined.
