(ONTARIO, Ore.) - Corrections officials say the Snake River Correctional Institution near Ontario, Oregon remains on partial lock-down today. The SRCI Minimum Facility and Complex 1 have been taken off of lock-down status. Complex 2 and Complex 3 remain on lock-down. Visiting for Wednesday and Thursday has been canceled. The status for Visiting on Friday will be evaluated tomorrow. Further review of the incident on Sunday indicates that security staff fired five warning shots before the sixth shot was fired at and hit an inmate. The names of the estimated 120 inmates involved in the disturbance are not being released by Oregon Department of Corrections pending further action for prosecution through the Malheur County District Attorney's Office. Three of the four inmates transported off site for medical care have returned to the institution. This includes the inmate who was shot. It is anticipated that the fourth inmate may return later this week. The Oregon State Police investigation will be forwarded to the Malheur County District Attorney's Office. SRCI has set up an information phone line that can be called to learn about the current status of visiting and general information. The number is 541-881-INFO (4636).

Thanks for fixing. JB April 9, 2008 7:27 pm (Pacific time) Why do you use stock Abu Ghraib prison photos in your stories? I noticed you did the same thing on the story of the inmate who was murdered by another inmate at OSP Feb. 14. Not trying to egg people on, are you?
Editor to JB- sorry you have to make that assumption, it really wasn't necessary, but I guess you have to take those jabs when you can, right? This photo was mislabeled and that is a mistake clearly on our part, it should not have been used and is now replaced, but to suggest we are trying to imply something about Iraq in an Oregon prison story is still a heck of a stretch, don't you think?
