(MADRAS, Ore.) - Police say a Madras-area man died at a Bend hospital from injuries sustained in a Saturday afternoon two vehicle crash in Madras on Highway 361 at SW Belmont Lane.

Oregon State Police Sergeant Don Wagner says that Saturday around 1:00 PM, a 1981 Honda motorcycle operated by 51-year old Wayne Schjoll of Madras, was southbound on Culver Highway when it was struck by a 1975 Chevrolet pickup driven by 28-year old Jeremy Pollock of Culver.

According to reports, Pollock was eastbound on Belmont Lane at the intersection with Culver Highway and was attempting to pull onto Culver Highway when his pickup collided with the motorcycle causing Mr. Schjoll to lose control and crash.

Wayne Schjoll was transported to Mountain View Hospital in Madras and later taken by air ambulance to St Charles Medical Center in Bend where he later died from his injuries. He was wearing a protective helmet.

Pollock was using safety restraints and was not injured.
