Portland VA Medical Center to Welcome Home War Veterans

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Portland VA Medical Center says they will show their appreciation to Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom veterans with a Welcome Home celebration event.

The Welcome Home event is Saturday, May 31st from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Oaks Amusement Park, Picnic Area # 6 located at 7805 Oaks Park Way, Portland.

Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans and their families are invited to enjoy a day of fun including all-day rides from noon to 7:00 PM, roller skating, two live bands, a catered lunch, door prizes and face painting for the kids.

"I admire all of our veterans and especially our OEF/OIF veterans and their family members who have given so much for the protection of others," Victoria Koehler, Portland VA Medical Center OEF/OIF Program Manager said.

"We are looking forward to a fun welcome home event and thank our veterans for their service."

Veterans will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to learn about services, benefits, compensation and pension, eligibility, OIF/OEF specific information and Women Veterans Programs. Also, Veterans Service Organizations will have information available for veterans. RSVP is required to attend the event. OEF/OIF Veterans must RSVP before May 15th by calling 503-808-1920 or emailing welcomehome@va.gov
