(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - A pregnant Gladstone woman was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital by air ambulance after a collision with a semi-truck on Highway 224 at Pheasant Court this morning.

At about 3:50 AM this morning, 55-year old Paul Eastridge of Grants Pass was attempting to make a left turn onto eastbound Highway 224 from Pheasant Court when his 2005 Peterbilt truck was struck in the intersection by a westbound 2003 Jeep Liberty driven by a 23-year old Gladstone woman.

The Jeep became stuck under the semi and had to be removed by emergency responders. The young woman, who is reportedly in the third trimester of pregnancy, was unconscious and entrapped in the vehicle, taking emergency responders approximately 45-minutes to extricate her.

She was taken by Life Flight air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. No further information on her condition is available at this time. Eastridge was not injured in the crash.

Highway 224 was closed in both directions for approximately 2.5 hours due to the crash. Approximately 50-gallons of diesel fuel from the semi-truck was spilled onto the highway. A detour was established between Webster Rd and Johnson Rd.

Troopers believe that the Jeep Liberty may have run a red light, but they are still investigating. Oregon Department of Transportation, Clackamas County Fire Department, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, AMR Ambulance, and Life Flight all assisted at the scene.
