Child Missing Since Early 2004 Recovered by Oregon Deputies

Information on the missing girl had been posted on the National Missing and Exploited Children's Website.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A missing six-year old child who had been listed on the National Missing and Exploited Children's Website was recovered yesterday by Washington County Sheriff's Detectives.

Sgt. David Thompson, spokesman with the sheriff's office, says they took custody of six-year old Kaylee Faith Dale who had been listed on the website since January of 2004.

Thompson says deputies received information that a child listed as missing out of Tennessee, may be living with her biological mother in the Washington County area.

"After conducting an initial investigation and determining that the information may be credible, deputies turned the case over to Sheriff's Detectives to investigate further."

He says detectives learned that a girl with the name of Kaylee Faith Dale was listed as missing, and her information was posted on the National Missing and Exploited Children's Website.

"The site featured an 'age progressed' picture that is a remarkable likeness of Kaylee today. Without contacting Kaylee, detectives were able to confirm that she was the same missing child featured on the Web page. Kaylee has been living in Oregon under a different name with her biological mother."

Detectives confirmed that a court order existed from Tennessee to take Kaylee into custody, and return her to her biological father.

Yesterday, Sheriff's detectives and Oregon DHS Child Protective Service personnel went to Kaylee's school and took custody of her. DHS will arrange to have Kaylee transferred to her father's custody.

Due to allegations of domestic violence against Kaylee's biological father, Billy Stewart, the Washington County Sheriff's Office is not releasing any other personal information about Kaylee or her mother.

This poor little girl. She's only 6. She's lived with her mom for 4 years, and now will be torn away from her to go to the biological father, even though he's an alleged abuser? That's probably why she left him in the first place, now the little girl's got no body to protect her. I hope it's worth the feather in your cap, good job Oregon. Not good for the children, but abusive men sure get a long way in this state.
