Hillsboro Police Arrest Child Pornography Suspect

(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - Images of what appeared to be a nude underage female, led to the arrest of a 69-year old Hillsboro man on Child Pornography charges.

Lt. Michael Rouches with Hillsboro Police, says officers were called out on April 29th at 5:45 p.m. to an address on Francis Street in Hillsboro, over a report of a man in possession of illegal pornographic images.

"The caretaker of the suspect's wife had noticed images of a nude minor female on the suspect's computer and called police," Rouches explained.

"Officers interviewed the 17-year old stepdaughter of the suspect in the case and discovered that she had been photographed nude by the suspect, 69-year old Don Junior Smith. The Officer's investigation indicated that Smith had taken sexually explicit photos of the victim from December 2007 to August 2008 in exchange for money, alcohol, clothes and cigarettes.

"Smith stored these images on his computer, but at the time of the officer's response the photos had been deleted. Smith stated he did not distribute the images."

Rouches says officers seized Smith's computer and digital camera as evidence and will complete forensic investigation of these devices.

Based on this information, officers arrested Smith for Use of a Child in a Sexually Explicit Manner, Compelling Prostitution, and Encouraging Sexual Abuse in the second-degree.

Smith was lodged in the Washington County Jail under these charges.

It is believed that there are no other victims associated with this case.
