Eight-Year-Old Boy on Pocket Bike Struck by TruckThe boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
(CORNELIUS, Ore.) - On Wednesday, at 11:17 AM, deputies with the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to an injury crash on N.W. Kerkman Road near N.W. Zion Church Road. The crash involved eight-year-old Ali Alfaro of Cornelius who was riding a pocket bike. This pocket bike was described as a small electric vehicle similar to a small motorcycle. The investigation showed that Alfaro was riding the bike on private property when for some reason he drove out the driveway and onto N.W. Kerkman Road. When he entered the roadway, he was struck by a 2004 Dodge pickup that was traveling south on Kerkman Road. The driver of the pickup, 48-year-old Joe Bob Tankersley, was uninjured and had almost no time to react before the crash. He faces no charges from this incident. Alfaro was transported via Life Flight Air Ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland where he is currently being treated. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
