Bicyclist Critically Injured in Collision with Fog Marker on Timberline RoadSalem-News.comThe woman was transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Health Sciences University.
(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A 22-year old woman was critically injured Saturday afternoon when she struck a highway fog marker pole while riding a bicycle near the top of Timberline Road. The woman's name will be withheld while Oregon State Police troopers continue the investigation and attempt to locate next of kin. According to OSP Trooper Mike Reel, today at approximately 3:15 p.m. the woman was the last of a group of about 7 bicycle riders departing Timberline Lodge and Ski Area lower parking lot. "As she was riding the small bicycle downhill she collided with a fog marker and was found by a passing motorist critically injured on the highway shoulder. The incident was apparently not witnessed by any of the other bicyclists." Reel said. The woman was initially treated at the scene by personnel from AMR Reach and Treat and Hoodland Fire Department. She was transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Health Sciences University. Investigating troopers are still trying to learn more about the woman's background information and where to contact relatives. OSP troopers from the Government Camp work site were also assisted at the scene by ODOT personnel.
