Reward Offered in Oregon Credit Union RobberiesSalem-News.comThe subject is described as a white male in his mid 40's to 50's, 5'7" to 5'1" in height, with a wiry build and a light complexion.
(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Oregon Financial Institution Security Task Force and the Credit Union Association are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a series of financial institution robberies in Portland during the month of July. FBI investigators believe a tattooed bandit, dubbed “CU Tattoo”, is responsible for at least six robberies of Portland Credit Unions from July 2nd to July 30th, including one in Clackamas County. In one robbery the "bandit" used a getaway car bearing a stolen license plate from Eugene. Another auto, subsequently recovered and seized as evidence, was purchased by cash. It is unclear why the bandit has only targeted credit unions, which are federally insured, and thus fall under the purview of FBI jurisdiction just as other traditional banks. The subject is described as a white male in his mid 40's to 50's, 5'7" to 5'1" in height, with a wiry build and a light complexion. The six robberies he is sought for include: A July 2nd robbery at the Rivermark Credit Union, which is located at 2537 SE Hawthorne in Portland. A robbery on July 11th at the Oregonians Credit Union at 336 NE 20th Avenue in Portland. He is suspected of robbing the Oregon Pioneer Credit Union at 17884 SE McLoughlin in Clackamas County July 16th. He is the suspect in a July 19th robbery at Unitus Credit Union at 10555 SE Washington in Portland. He is also sought over a July 30th robbery at Advantis Credit Union at 3717 SE 17th Avenue in Portland. In Portland Oregon, please call FBI (503) 224-4181 twenty-four hours a day.
