(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Police say a report of a gunshot early Sunday morning led to the discovery of three gunshot victims who had been driven to Salem Hospital in a private automobile. Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada says a call about the reported gunshots was received around 3:30 AM.

Salem Police responded to the area of 5th and Locust NE to investigate, and then learned a short time later that a vehicle had arrived at the Salem Hospital with three gunshot victims.

"One victim died at the hospital, one was life flighted to a Portland Hospital and one was treated and released," Okada said.

The identity of the victims are being withheld by police at this time, pending family notification.

Okada says the shooting is being investigated as a homicide and anyone with information is asked to call Salem Police Detective Mark Remily at 588-6050 X7152

No surprise at all i used to live on broadway and that area like eazy money said is by far the worst area in salem, i think salem and its police need to do a better job cleaning up this area of drugs, prostitutes, and gang bangers instead of waisting there time and resources parked on ther side of the road waiting to make traffic stops.

Oh! Right off Broadway. I used to live off Broadway. Easily the worst neighborhood in Salem that I've lived in. To include north Lancaster and Lee st and 22nd and now the flats in West Salem. Shootings are not uncommon in any of those areas. But the Broadway area was always the worst.
